Firestone Cover Boards
Foot traffic on a roof can crush
mineral wool boards resulting in ponding water and fasteners
popping up, possibly damaging the membrane. In case of plastic foam
insulations, foot traffic can also collapse the blown foam cells
and jeopardize the bond between facer and foam.
When foot traffic is high, a cover board spreads the load and
protects the insulation board. The use of a cover board in
reroofing provides a smooth and even surface, protects the new
membrane from any damage due to irregularities in the existing roof
surface.
Some boards can also be used directly over the steel deck, as an
underlayment board to protect the insulation board, to
help maintain the structural integrity of the roof and improve
the fire resistance of the roof/building. Firestone cover
boards may also be used as a backer board for the roof side or
parapet walls.
Firestone offers 2 types of cover boards that bring
added value to the roofing system, prior to installation
of a durable EPDM or TPO roofing membrane.
ISOGARD HD contains a

performance of any 12 mm cover board product on the market, and it
is resistant to extreme weather conditions. Lightweight and
easy to cut and with more boards per pallet, this high density
